Narita Junko "Kitsune no Yomeiri" Exhibition

Exhibition

Gallery

The finest antique fabrics, as if worn by princesses in the Edo period, and fragments of Buddhist altarpieces, appear in Junko Narita's hands, as if coming back to life.
This time, to commemorate Ippodo Gallery's 30th anniversary, the theme is "The Fox's Wedding," depicting a procession of nineteen foxes surrounding a bride wearing a white cotton hood.
"The Fox's Wedding" is considered an auspicious and somewhat mysterious, fantastical phenomenon: a sunshower, rain falling from a clear sky.
It even appeared in a film by Akira Kurosawa.
Other fantastical dolls, such as dragon gods descended from the heavens, will also be on display.
