The 2020 Tokyo Olympics would have been held by now.
Just as athletes compete at the National Stadium, young Japanese artists are honing their skills and creating with passion every day.
To coincide with the Olympics, we will be holding the "Trends of Crafts Exhibition," featuring 13 young, talented artists selected by Ippodo.
As the world fears the coronavirus and history on Earth is being rewritten, where are Japanese culture and the arts headed?
It must be connected to the future without interruption.
I hope that the crafts created by Japanese people will combine tradition with modern science and technology, and that their beauty will not be based on trends, but on a view of nature and life and death, and that they will be universal and kind to the earth.
A new wave of craftsmanship is coming. We ask for your support in this competition of beauty and skill between these 13 artists.
Keiko Aono, Ippodo
