Exhibition view

A sharp-shaped porcelain vessel made from porcelain clay, painted with blue mud, and fired.
Nine years ago, I discovered Nishida Nobuo's work at "Kandori."
I was amazed by its clean appearance and beautiful shape, and I became a big fan.
The piece is bisque fired using Kyoto porcelain clay, then painted with cobalt blue or mud paint using a brush, wiped off, and the process is repeated.
It looks like an abstract painting and also like a traditional brushstroke pattern.
He studied pottery in Kurashiki and Kyoto, set up a studio in his hometown of Nankoku, Kochi Prefecture, and has now moved to Kochi City.
Nishida's pottery is not the trendy, decorative, elaborate, labor-intensive piece of work.
Is it true that quiet, clean and modest works are rare these days? They have won numerous awards.
Well, I've been waiting for a few years since I promised him a solo exhibition.
We hope you will come and see Nobuo Nishida's work, which will be on display for the first time in a long while.
