Unryuan

Tatsuo Kitamura, the founder of Unryu-an, is the master carpenter of a lacquer workshop and creates highly refined lacquerware works. These works are the result of techniques and expressions backed by thorough research into techniques. In 2002, his advanced skills were recognized and he was the first living artist to hold a solo exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, marking a brilliant debut overseas.
