Hiraku Sudo won the Japan Crafts Association Newcomer Award at the 72nd Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition

Hiraku Sudo won the Japan Crafts Association Newcomer Award at the 72nd Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
The box is made of shakudo and shibuichi copper, and features slightly different peony arabesque and ground patterns, with each half made of different cloth. The box imitates a "katami-gae" (a type of cloth used for wrapping cloth) wrapping, and was praised for its advanced engraving techniques, which beautifully express the "texture of fabric despite being made of metal."
