Comment from Ippodo

With his studio in Noda Village, Iwate Prefecture in the Tohoku region, he says, "I want to explore the possibilities of clay. Its thinness, fragility, ephemerality, lightness... I want to show an unexpected side of clay that makes people think, 'You can do this with clay?'" He creates never-before-seen forms that evoke ancient times. His many works seem to celebrate the material of clay itself. This time, Ippodo Gallery will introduce the world of Hisaya Izumida, focusing on his new works. Chinese tea sets will also be on display.
