Suifu Mori

Suifu Mori

Mori Suifu is a doll artist from Kyoto. He studied under his father Kodo and has been carving cypress dolls for over 40 years as a woodcarving doll artist, continuing to do so to this day. Born and raised in Kyoto, it was only natural that he took over his father's work. He never entered any other craft industry, but has dedicated himself to perfecting his skills as a craftsman. His dolls are the pinnacle of rare skills that have been passed down only through tradition. His works are made from Kiso cypress and are painted with suihi paints, which are used in Japanese paintings. Suifu's Kyoto dolls, born and raised in Kyoto, have a graceful and elegant appearance and a sense of sincerity in the beauty of their finish.
