"If you ask me what I have done with my life, let it rain if it rains, and let it blow if the wind blows." - Ryokan
I've never become a hermit or a monk, but at this age, my state of mind is exactly like this song: if it rains, that's fine, if the wind blows, that's fine too. Don't go against the flow, accept everything, and just go with the flow.
The source of my creativity is the world of words.
Words that are accumulated in our hearts through our eyes and ears become shadows and eventually take shape.
"I do not know where the flowers will go as the wind blows, but my heart of regret remains with me." - Saigyo.
I don't chase the path of falling petals.
I simply believe that this fleeting form has become a part of my heart and body.
Ryusuke Asai
Asai Ryusuke's tea bowls are fun.
His father is Shinpei Asai, the Beatles' official photographer.
He was educated in the UK during his youth, and has been exposed to arts, literature, music, and sports... his whole body is filled with rich and rare experiences and thoughts.
He likely learned his design sense from interior designer Shigeru Uchida and the joys of pottery from Ryoji Koie.
There is something mysteriously charming about Asai Ryusuke's calligraphy and pottery.
This time, he has created a panel and a hanging scroll of a line from a writer that has left a lasting impression on him.
The inscription on each tea bowl is a reflection of his thoughts.
This is his first solo exhibition in five years, so we hope you will see his evolution.
