Create a chair
If I hadn't met the blacksmith, Mr. Ohara, in 2008, the new chair would not have been born. The plane he brought was clearly different from the ones I had used up until then. He made tamahagane from iron sand he had collected himself, and the plane he forged showed a wonderful sharpness.
I could make a chair with this plane. At that moment, I had a revelation.
The technique of finishing with a plane was the trigger, and the inherent beauty of wood gave me the clue to solving many of the problems. And so I made a chair.
