Japanese color names are poetic and charming, from their origins to how they are read and even the sounds they produce.
When reading classical literature such as the Manyoshu or the Tale of Genji, colors sometimes appear and the black and white text transports you to a full-color, 3D world.
Summer is approaching. This time, Ippodo has collected art and craft works in indigo, the color most loved by Japanese people.
"The Earth was blue," said Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space. In Japan, there are over 70 traditional shades of blue alone.
Surrounded by the beautiful blue all around you, come to Ippodo to look for things that are kind to the earth, nature, and people.
