Sometimes I take a long time to decide on the subject I want to paint.
In my case, once I have decided, I have to decide where to start drawing.
It will become clear where to go next.
This is an intuitive task in a sense, but rather than focusing on the technique,
I place great importance on taking on new challenges each time, with a sense of layering emotions on intuition.
Drawing for me is about uncovering this process in my mind.

Two years ago, I was captivated by a drawing in the studio of painter Masaaki Miyasako.
The black lines drawn on the white paper were strong and weak, and seemed to move.
It was many years ago when I was in junior high school.
A Rembrandt exhibition was held at an art museum in Kyoto.
It was such a popular exhibition that people would line up at the time.
Of all Rembrandt's masterpieces, I was most interested in his drawings.
When I saw Shimizu Rei's sketches, I suddenly remembered this and decided to hold this solo exhibition.
