Hiraku Sudo Receives the Japan Kogei Association New Artist Prize at the 72nd Japan Traditional Kogei Exhibition

Hiraku Sudo has received the Japan Kogei Association New Artist Prize at the 72nd Japan Traditional Kogei Exhibition.
Using shakudo and shibuichi for the body, with a peony arabesque and ground patterns that differ slightly from one half to the other, this box modeled on a "katamigawari" shifuku pouch, in which each half is made of a different fabric, splendidly conveys "the texture of cloth, though made of metal":his advanced metal-chasing technique was highly praised.
