Born in Kumihama, Kyoto in 1948
1975 Graduated from the Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Crafts, Majoring in Ceramics
1983 Exhibited at the "Today's Japanese Ceramics" exhibition (Smithsonian Museum, Washington, DC; Victoria and Albert Museum, London)
1992 Exhibited at the 100 Selected Japanese Ceramics Now Exhibition (Paris, Tokyo)
1998: Winner of the Encouragement Award at the Traditional Crafts New Works Exhibition
2005: Won the Kikuchi Biennale Exhibition Excellence Award and moved his studio to Roppongi, Tokyo
2008: Winner of the Grand Prize at the Contemporary Tea Ceramics Exhibition at the Musee Tomo (Kikuchi Kanji Memorial Musee Tomo)
2009: Won the Japan Crafts Association President's Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition
