Works created by Matsubara Ken

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts has decided to add "Chaos" to its collection. Seigo Matsuoka said of the work, "...This is how a vision should appear. It made me want it to be that way. Whether this is a Buddhist painting or a contemporary painting, or wherever it is hung, this work will transport the viewer from "here" to "there."
In his youth, Matsubara Ken was inspired by Inoue Sanko and started to paint abstract Japanese paintings. One day, the late Hayashiya Seizo asked him to paint a picture of plum blossoms in the Rinpa style, and the painting looked just like Maruyama Okyo's.
